TOCOSPAN contains full spectrum vitamin E, i.e. tocopherols and tocotrienols along with d-alpha tocopheryl acid succinate in a bioenhanced formulation. TOCOSPAN thus represents a synergistic combination of potent antioxidants along with d-alpha tocopheryl acid succinate that has in addition potential anticancer activity. TOCOSPAN is designed provide robust antioxidant protection and thus reducing the risk for diseases related to oxidative damage. TOCOSPAN is free of sugar, starch, sodium, wheat, corn, milk, yeast, preservatives, and artificial colors, flavors or dyes.
Tocopherols: d-Alpha tocopherol, d-alpha tocopheryl acetate and d-alpha tocopheryl acid succinate – 200 IU; plus d-gamma tocopherol – 50 mg, d-delta tocopherol – 20 mg; and d-beta tocopherol – 1.5 mg.
Tocopherols are potent antioxidants and free radical scavengers. And they protect LDL (bad cholesterol) from oxidation. Tocopherols have important health benefits such as anti-inflammatory activity, improvement in platelet function and stimulation of immune function. Other properties of tocopherols include membrane stabilization, cell signaling and modulation of the enzyme called protein kinase C.
d-Alpha tocopheryl acetate is a precursor (ester form) of d-alpha tocopherol. It is broken down to yield d-alpha tocopherol molecule for molecule in the digestive tract. d-Alpha tocopheryl acid succinate is likewise a precursor of d-alpha tocopherol and in addition, it has been shown to possess unique anticancer properties.
Tocotrienols: Tocomin® consisting of mixed tocotrienols – 10 mg (d-alpha tocotrienol – 2.9 mg; d-beta tocotrienol – 127 mcg; d-gamma tocotrienol – 5.6 mg; and d-delta tocotrienol – 1.4 mg).
Tocotrienols also belong to the vitamin E family. They are powerful antioxidants, possibly more potent than tocopherols and they are synergistic in their antioxidant function. Tocotrienols like tocopherols reduce the risk for diseases that are linked to oxidative stress. Furthermore, tocotrienols possess properties that go beyond their antioxidant activities and these include inhibition of cholesterol synthesis and antineoplastic (anticancer) activity
